The WeChat application for Windows Phone devices has just been updated to version 4.0, with some appealing new features packed inside.

One of them includes free HD video calls available for all owners of devices running under Microsoft’s mobile operating system, which should appeal a lot to many.

Furthermore, the app now offers support for video messages, enabling users to record a video and share it with friends or loved ones.

WeChat 4.0 also provides users with the possibility to play audio messages in Handset Mode to keep their messages private, the app’s release notes unveil.

The application can be found available for download through this page in the Windows Phone Store, for both WP8 and WP7.5 devices. According to its developers, the Windows Phone 8 flavor has been specifically designed to match the capabilities of the platform.
