The smartphone is faced with severe dialer issues

We have been hearing this story countless times. Each time a new Android build arrives into the wild, users who update to the new software are often hit by bugs and issues.

It’s the case of Android 5.0 Lollipop which is currently available for owners of the Nexus 4 smartphone. Last month we told you the new Android version brought about an annoying flashlight bug that disabled the handset’s camera.

But hey, that was nothing compared to this new one users are reporting on on the Android Open Source Project page.

According to some owners of the Nexus 4, their devices are experiencing constant dialer issues.

Basically, the problem is that once you try to access the entire dialer interface, you are hit by a pretty bad lag, with up to three seconds going by between a press and something actually happening.

Even more, some users are saying they are confronted with a three-to-four-second lag when receiving a call, before they can actually hear what the person at the other end of the line is saying.

One extremely frustrated user claims “In practice my phone is NOT a phone after lollipop update.”

Google is probably aware of these issues, and the Android 5.0.1 update will hopefully solve them. If you’re on the Nexus 7, Nexus 9 or Nexus 10 tablets, you can go ahead and install the update right now.
