As promised, Samsung has delivered the long-awaited Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for Vodafone-bounded Galaxy S II smartphone.

Initially slated for an April 12 release, Samsung pushed back the release of the update for unknown reasons.

Fortunately, the South Korean company delayed the rollout with only one day, so Galaxy S II owners are now able to download it via Samsung Kies desktop software.

There are lots of reports coming from Vodafone UK customers who already upgraded their Galaxy S II device to Ice Cream Sandwich, so if the update does not show in Samsung Kies, try to disconnect the phone for 30 seconds and then connect it again.

It is also worth mentioning that downloads are going very slow due to servers being overloaded by Galaxy S II owners who are trying to update their phones.

For the time being, Samsung Kies is the only way to update the Galaxy S II, but beginning April 17, Android 4.0 ICS will be pushed OTA (over the air).
