The popular Viber application might be closer than expected to becoming available for download on devices running under Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 operating system.

A recent report on the matter suggests that the application has already been submitted for approval in the Windows Phone Store, and that it might get listed there very soon.

The info comes from news site TruTower, which claims that Viber’s CEO Talmon Marco himself has confirmed the move.

With the certification process for new applications usually taking around 24 hours, Viber should go live on Windows Phone 8 shortly, it seems. Some of the features that this app will deliver include group calling, which is said to have been packed inside it from the beginning.

As WPCentral notes, the app is expected to become available for all Windows Phone 8 devices.
