Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is reportedly gearing up to release a new software update for the owners of a Galaxy Nexus smartphone on its network.

Today, the operator might start to push out the Android 4.0.4 platform version to its users, the latest rumors on the matter suggest.

The carrier hasn’t offered details on this until now, and we’ll take the info with a grain of salt.

However, the guys over at Droid-life report that a Verizon employee has told a user that the update would be out on May 22nd, and he also showed a screen that mentioned the date.

Big Red’s Galaxy Nexus was spotted running Android 4.0.4 a few months ago, with faster boot times, improved signal strength and louder in-call volume. The transition between 3G and 4G should also be enhanced.
