The carrier might launch it as a high-end 3D handset or as something completely new

Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is preparing for the launch of a new device on its airwaves, one that might sport the name of Hologram when made available, recent reports suggest.

Apparently, the carrier has just filed for trademarking the 'Hologram' name, which suggests that it is gearing up for a new release, although there are no specific details available on what it might be. Pocketnow suggests that we might be looking at a new handset that packs 3D capabilities, and the fact that AT&T and Sprint have already launched such phones suggests that they might actually be right.

Chances are that Hologram would be attached to an already announced 3D device, or that it will turn out to be a new phone, or even something completely new.

One way or the other, we should wait for Verizon to make an announcement on the matter before making further suppositions, so keep an eye on this space for additional details.
