Caterpillar is a well-known player in the construction industry, but part of its activity has to do with smartphone distribution. More precisely, Caterpillar is selling rugged smartphones to those who need solid, sturdy devices.

According to MobileSyrup, Canadian carrier Rogers plans to launch the Cat B15 ultra-rugged smartphone sometime in November. The handset will be available for purchase for $100 (€70) on 2-year contracts, but we’re not sure when exactly it will go on sale.

Caterpillar B15 will ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and a decent 1 GHz dual-core processor inside. The phone has been confirmed to pack 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory and 5-megapixel rear-facing camera.

According to Caterpillar, the B15 is waterproof up to 1 meter and 30 minutes. It can also withstand drops from up to 1.8 meters onto concrete.
