Bad news for TweetDeck fans, as Twitter has just announced the application will be removed from Google Play and App Store in early May.

In addition, it has been confirmed that TweetDeck for Android, iOS and Adobe AIR will stop functioning on May 7.

According to developers, “TweetDeck for Android and TweetDeck for iPhone rely on v1.0 of Twitter’s API, which we are retiring starting this month. Leading up to that retirement, Twitter’s platform team will be performing occasional tests that will affect applications that rely on API v1.0.”

TweetDeck team said back in March that it would be focusing their development efforts on their “modern, web-based versions of TweetDeck,” which is why they decided to discontinue their older applications for Adobe AIR, Android and iOS.

However, there are several third-party applications for Android and iOS that would make good alternatives for TweetDeck.
