Once one of the most popular instant messenger applications, Trillian is now struggling to keep up with its competitors, such as WhatsApp.

Landed on Android platform a while ago, Trillian has been updated a few times, but has yet to reach version 2.0. With less than 500.000 downloads on Google Play Store, Trillian is mildly popular among Android enthusiasts.

According to Cerulean Studios, creators of the application, the latest update brings SSL support for all traffic. In addition, an unknown number of minor bug fixes have been included as well, though no other details have been provided yet.

The new Trillian 1.2.0.14 is now available as a free download via Google Play store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 1.6 and up. Check it out here.
