Samsung’s Tizen OS is a project in the making

The main reason Windows Phone pales in comparison to Android and iOS is that its app ecosystem is not so developed compared to the latter two.

But even Windows Phone does a lot better than Tizen OS, Samsung’s freshly squeezed attempt at breaking the dominion of Android and iOS.

Like any new OS, Tizen is in the process of building its own app ecosystem. So far, we’ve seen the mobile OS get WhatsApp support, and according to Tizen Experts, it will soon get support for Facebook, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram as well.

The publication discovered internal test versions of all three apps on the Tizen Store. However, it's still unclear whether these apps will be completely native or they will run via OpenMobile’s ACL emulation technology that lets users port Android apps to Tizen.

Apparently, the apps will be released in beta versions and those willing to help will be asked to sideload them and test them before the Tizen Store release.

So don’t expect to wake up tomorrow and see the apps waiting for you in the store. The Instagram app for Windows Phone, for instance, has been in beta stage for ages.

Hopefully, the Tizen apps won’t meet the same fate.
