Sony should roll out the update pretty soon

After a long wait, Sony finally updated the Xperia Z3 to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop back in March, but the company might move a lot faster when it comes to the next update, meaning Android 5.1.1.

The folks at GizmoBolt have stumbled upon a video showing the Xperia Z3 running the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update, so we can only hypothesize that the update shouldn't take long to reach owners of Sony’s previous-gen flagship.

Naturally, Sony hasn't revealed anything specific about the update schedule, but seeing this video gives us hope.

Android 5.1.1 is expected to add new animation options and a new feature that will allow users to locate a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection directly from the Quick Settings menu.

In related news, in Australia, mobile operator Telestra has reported that an Android 5.1.1 build is currently being tested for the Sony Xperia Z, Sony Xperia Z1 and Sony Xperia Z1 Compact. However, some issues were encountered, so to make the long story short, Telstra hopes to push the update for the aforementioned devices sometime in August.

We don’t see any mention of the Xperia Z3, so hopefully, this flagship will get updated sooner. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for that, and so should you.
