Google says this is the result of Map Maker abuse

Google and Apple have been at each other’s throats since forever, but this Easter egg spotted inside Google Maps is taking competition to a whole new, rude level.

The folks at Team Android had the “pleasure” of discovering that, if you type the 33°30'52.5"N 73°03'33.2"E coordinates into Google Maps, you’ll stumble upon something pretty outrageous: an Android robot peeing on an Apple logo - in public and for everyone to see.

The blasphemy appears to be marked south of the Pakistani town of Rawalpindi and can also be viewed accessing the Android Google Maps application, by searching for this particular location.

While everyone stopped and wondered how the image got there, Google stepped forth and explained the offensive Android is probably the result of a user abusing Map Maker, a tool which allows every user out there to bring their contribution to Google Maps.

Google is known for slipping Easter eggs and gentle pranks inside Google Maps, but this is clearly a tasteless one.

Anyway, Google is taking the necessary steps to remove the offensive image, although if you look for it now, you can still see it.

Updated: It appears that someone felt like sharing their feelings about Google's review policy, with another image that surfaced a little bit to the east of the Android bot in the Takht Pari forest.

The message announces pretty straight forward that Google's moderation system for Google Maps is pretty useless.

We're pretty curious to see what else comes up.
