The smartphone might be officially announced in late February

Apparently, the next Galaxy S flagship smartphone won’t hit shelves before May 2013, though the device might be announced at Mobile World Congress trade fair, in late February.

The confirmation comes via Samsung Lebanon and does not include a certain timeframe for the Galaxy S IV release.

However, we expect the South Korean company to follow the same procedure as in the last two-three years when it launched its Galaxy S devices a few months after they were unveiled at MWC, in Barcelona.

That being said, word is that Samsung’s execs are already planning to show the Galaxy S IV to carriers attending CES 2013 next week, in order to test the market and modify the sample version in case of need.

Obviously, this will be done behind the curtains, so Android enthusiasts should not get their hopes too high until next month. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
