On Saturday, Australian wireless carrier Telstra confirmed that the Windows Phone 7.8 software update would arrive on its network as soon as next month, and that it had already started testing it for compatibility.

For the time being, no specific release date for the platform upgrade has been set, but end of February appears to be the earliest that users can hope for when it comes to receiving it.

Nokia Lumia 800, Nokia Lumia 610, HTC Titan 4G, HTC 7 Mozart, HTC HD7 and Samsung Omnia W are the smartphones that should receive the update once it’s ready for deployment.

“Approval/deployment dates not locked down yet. Expected to be available late February/early March,” the carrier announced on its website.

Hopefully, the software upgrade will be pushed to devices sooner rather than later, though it remains to be seen how fast the carrier will manage to complete the testing phase for it.
