Yesterday, wireless carrier T-Mobile announced the availability of a new software update for its Galaxy Note II smartphone, so as to provide users with access to its LTE network.

The update, based on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, will arrive on devices as version T889UVBMB4 and will be pushed both over-the-air and via the Samsung Kies desktop application.

“This update introduces LTE compatibility and other device improvements. Though LTE compatibility is available in the Note II with the software update, the T-Mobile 4G LTE network is not available at this time but will be coming soon,” the carrier announced.

The update weighs 9 MB, and users are advised to ensure that the battery inside their handsets is charged at least at 50 percent before proceeding with the update. Rooted handsets won’t taste the new software, T-Mobile notes.
