Foursquare's Swarm application has just received a major update on Windows Phone platform. To highlight the importance of the update, developers have tagged the application with version 2.0.

The most important change is the addition of messages. The new ability allows Swarm users to message their nearby friends if they want to meet up quicker and easier.

In addition, developers claim they have stepped up their “sticker game,” which means all stickers will now have a new place of their own in a dedicated tab.

This will allow users to check on their progress faster and see hints for unlocking stickers, which will prove extremely useful since the new update adds tons of stickers.

That being said, Swarm is now trying to appeal to more users, even though the lack of features might put it behind other instant messengers available on the market.

Hopefully, with more updates that bring more features and improvements, Swarm will become a real competitor to other applications in the same category.

If you don't have the application installed yet, you can now download Swarm for Windows Phone 2.0 for free via Windows Phone Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Windows Phone 8.1.
