Mobile phone carrier Sprint is reportedly gearing up for the launch of a Windows Phone 8-based handset before the end of this year.

While no specific info on the said device have been made available so far, some of the latest rumors on the matter suggest that it could come from Nokia (though another leading handset vendor out there could also be a possibility).

Moreover, the smartphone is expected to include a dual-core Qualcomm S4 Snapdragon MSM8960 application processor insider.

Rumors on the possible support for this processor in the upcoming Windows Phone 8 platform have been making the rounds on the web for quite a while now, and it appears that they might actually pan out in the end.

The smartphone is rumored for late 2012, in line with the expected release date of Windows Phone 8. Sprint is just getting its new LTE network up and running, so the upcoming device should benefit from this as well.
