14 DAY TRIAL // Mobile phone carrier Sprint is interested in Research In Motion’s new BlackBerry 10 operating system, and will be mentioned as partner at the platform’s January 30 launch.
Trevor Van Norman, Sprint's director of device product marketing, confirmed to FierceWireless that the OS was indeed seen as promising, and that there also were Sprint customers interested in the purchase of such devices.
“We still think that's a viable OS,” he said, but wouldn’t provide specific info on when handsets might become available for purchase at the carrier.
Wireless carriers in various countries around the world have already committed to the BlackBerry 10 platform, including those in the UK, Canada, and even the US.
RIM is expected to launch full-touch BB10 smartphones soon after the official unveiling of the platform in late January, but will also release QWERTY-enabled smartphones powered by the OS.
