Sprint HTC One E8 owners rejoice, as the Taiwanese company has just announced that the long-awaited Android 5.0 Lollipop update will soon be available for download.

HTC's Mo Versi has just confirmed that they have received Sprint's technical approval and that the rollout of Android 5.0 Lollipop update will begin tomorrow, May 22.

The One E8 was launched on the market last year with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system right out of the box, but HTC confirmed it would deliver Android 5.0 Lollipop soon.

The announcement came in August 2014, which means that it took Sprint and HTC more than 9 months to make the update available to One E8 owners.

The unlocked version of HTC One E8 has already received the upgrade in many countries, but carrier-branded units have been skipped from the initial rollout.

Since there's no official changelog for Sprint One E8, we can't tell for sure what other new features and improvements will be included aside from the ones that come with Android 5.0 Lollipop.

However, we do know for sure that the One E8 won't receive the new HTC Sense 7.0 UI, which made its debut on the market along with the One M9 flagship smartphone. Stay tuned for more on this one.
