US-based carrier Sprint plans to quietly upgrade its network in order to offer customers a new service, HD Voice. Sprint is expected to make this service widely available starting 2013, though the operator has yet to confirm a timeframe for the release.

According to PhoneScoop, Sprint will launch its HD Voice service by the end of the year, but only for the HTC EVO 4G LTE smartphones.

The new service allows Sprint customers who own compatible devices to have an improved mobile phone calling experience.

However, the carrier will have to upgrade its network with Network Vision in order to be able to offer the HD Voice service to its customers.

Sprint has also stated that HD Voice services will be widely spread in the United States by 2014, which is why it plans to launch more compatible smartphones, in addition to the HTC EVO 4G LTE.
