Sony Mobile has been long rumored to bring to the market a Windows Phone device, and it appears that we might actually see such a handset unveiled before the end of this year.

Furthermore, a newly leaked document that has emerged over at evleaks.at appears to provide us with a first look at this smartphone, while also revealing that Sony might have had the phone codenamed Lue Z.

Unfortunately, no specific info on what the handset will have to offer in terms of hardware capabilities has been offered as of now.

There’s no guarantee that the leaked image is the real deal, so take this with a big grain of salt, at least until some more details on the device emerge online.

However, we should not dismiss the possible release of a Windows Phone 8.1-based Sony smartphone right from the start, that’s for sure.

Previous reports on the matter suggested that the company could make the phone official sometime in August, and that the first update for Windows Phone 8.1 would be aimed specifically at this device.

Said platform iteration, supposedly set to arrive on smartphones as Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1, is said to be nearly complete, and is expected to RTM by the end of this week, which suggests that it would indeed arrive sometime next month.

Should the info above pan out, we might see both the new Windows Phone 8.1 OS version and a Sony handset running under it released by the end of the summer, so stay tuned for more on the matter.

Update: In a new tweet, @evleaks notes that the above image is most likely fake, and that you should not get your hopes too high on this Sony Windows Phone 8.1 device.
