Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile is getting ready for the launch of a new high-end Android-based device in its popular Xperia lineup, namely the Xperia i1 Honami, and it seems that the handset will actually be capable of 4K video recording.

The mobile phone, supposedly set to make an official appearance on September 4 at the IFA 2013 show in Berlin, still hasn’t been confirmed, but various leaks have unveiled a great deal of details on its capabilities.

The latest of them, coming from the Esato Forums (via PhoneArena), shows that the phone’s 20.7-megapixel photo snapper will indeed be capable of recording videos at the impressive 4K resolution (or 3840 x 2160 pixels).

The handset’s camera is also said to feature Sony's "G Lens" technology, while expected to be paired with a variety of software enhancements, so as to enable users to take full advantage of its capabilities.
