Sony is reportedly getting ready for the release of new smartphones on the US market, and is currently working on receiving the necessary approvals for that.

The Federal Communication Commission has just approved one such phone for use in the country, namely the Sony Xperia advance ST27a.

This handset is said to be the North American flavor of Sony’s Xperia go smartphone, which has already made an appearance on shelves in various markets around the world.

For the time being, however, there’s no telling on when the Xperia advance might arrive on shelves in the US and Canada, but chances are that it won’t take long for that to happen.

The XperiaBlog notes that the phone’s firmware made it to the PTCRB website recently, with version number 6.0.B.3.184, similar to the one on Xperia go (ST27i).
