A week ago, Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile officially announced a new flagship Android-based device, in the form of Xperia Z2, and a leaked system dump from the smartphone is now available online.

The file is available for everyone to download, offering a better glimpse at all the new applications, features, wallpapers, sounds, and the like that will be part of the Xperia Z2 experience when the smartphone hits shelves.

At the same time, availability of this leaked build (courtesy of XDA-Developers Forum) means that developers will be able to start building custom ROMs both for this device and for other Xperia handsets out there.

The system dump is based on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system and, as XperiaBlog notes, it features firmware version 17.1.A.0.289. Apparently, Xperia Z2 will arrive on shelves with newer software loaded on top (build number 17.1.A.1.2 was already certified for it).

While we’re sure that many of the novelties included in Xperia Z2 will be ported to other Sony smartphones out there following the leak, it remains to be seen whether very high-end features such as 4K video recording will be among them.

Xperia Z1 features many hardware similarities with the new flagship phone, and it would not come as a surprise if support for shooting better resolution videos was brought to it.
