Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile has released a new software update for the owners of Xperia Z2 devices out there, providing them with some appealing new enhancements.

One thing that you should know right from the start is the fact that the new software release, available for download as version 17.1.2.A.0.314, does not change the operating system loaded on top of the device.

However, the update does provide owners of this smartphone with enhancements to voice call quality, as well as with a series of improvements to the device’s touch function and performance.

Other changes included in the update are related to the phone’s charging capabilities, specifically for the moments when the battery is low.

At the same time, the new firmware release arrives on smartphones with overall performance and stability improvements, as well as with a series of bug fixes inside, the available release notes reveal.

The update will be rolling out to Xperia Z2 devices over-the-air, but you can also manually check its availability, through going to Settings > About phone > Software update.

Sony has already updated the phone’s product page so as to reflect the change in firmware version, and those interested in learning more on the matter should head over there for that.
