Following its unveiling at the IFA 2013 trade fair in Berlin, Sony’s Xperia Z1 smartphone is expected to become official in India on September 18.

PhoneArena reports that Japanese handset vendor Sony Mobile has already sent out invitations to a press event held on that day in New Delhi, suggesting that “the best of Sony” would be announced there.

No specific info on when the new device might become available for purchase in the country has been provided, but it might not be too long before that happens, that’s for sure.

Sony has already released its latest high-end devices in India, and it does not come as a surprise that Xperia Z1 will suffer a similar fate.

The handset was announced last week with a 5-inch full HD touchscreen, a Snapdragon 800 processor inside, 2GB of RAM, and a 20.7-megapixel camera.
