The upgrade brings lots of new features and improvements

Japanese carrier NTT Docomo has finally kicked off the rollout of the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for Sony Xperia Z. This is the second Sony smartphone receiving a major upgrade in the last couple of weeks.

According to XperiaBlog, owners of Xperia Z handsets can upgrade now if their devices are on firmware build 10.1.D.0.343. Once the update is installed, the phone software will be upgraded to iteration 10.3.1.B.0.256.

Among the most important changes included in this upgrade, users will notice native compatibility with Dualshock 3, enhanced Small Apps, improvements to camera app, various tweaks to lots of applications, as well as Bluetooth tethering and UI visual improvements.

Keep in mind that the update is available OTA (over the air) or via Sony Companion, so users might want to check for availability by going to Settings / About phone / Software update / Check now.
