A new software update has started to roll out to the owners of Sony Xperia SP devices out there, in the form of software version 12.0.A.2.254.

The new firmware release will bring along a small number of changes when compared to the previously available software for the device.

The new Xperia SP update is a minor one and should include mainly bug fixes and unnoticeable performance improvements, as XperiaBlog notes in a recent post.

The previous update for the handset, namely firmware 12.0.A.2.245, was pushed out with enhancements such as an expanded notification panel and transparent UI.

Usually, Sony Mobile deploys new software releases for its handsets in stages, and we expect for this to happen with the new 12.0.A.2.254 update as well. However, chances are that all Xperia SP users will receive it in a matter of weeks.
