Australian wireless carrier Vodafone is getting ready for the launch of a new Sony smartphone on its network, none other than the Xperia SP.

The company has already announced on its blog that the new device will arrive soon in its offering, though it has not provided further details on the matter. However, the carrier should unveil more on this in the not too distant future.

As Ausdroid notes in a recent post, the Android-based Xperia SP arrives on the market as a mid-range device with appealing hardware specifications attached.

The mobile phone features a 4.6-inch 720p Reality Display, a 1.7GHz dual-core processor inside, paired with 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal memory.

Furthermore, the smartphone features an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for full HD video recording, front camera for video calling, and DC-HSPA+ 42Mbps connectivity.
