Xperia C is yet another new smartphone that Sony Mobile made official today, the first in the company’s lineup to pack a MediaTek processor inside.

Featuring model number S39h, the handset will arrive on shelves at China Unicom with support for its WCDMA and GSM networks and with dual-SIM capabilities inside, Engadget reports.

The Xperia C emerged online recently with a 5-inch qHD touchscreen display, and Sony’s announcement confirmed that. It is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6589 SoC, just as previously rumored.

The phone was also announced with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with voice shutter function, and support for full HD video recording.

For the time being, Sony did not provide specific info on the smartphone’s release date or price tag, though it should offer such details soon, so stay tuned.
