Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile has already made a name in the waterproof smartphones area, and it appears that the company is getting ready for the launch of a new such device later this week during the IFA 2014 conference in Berlin.

The company has already started to tease the aforementioned product on Twitter, suggesting that users will be able to submerge it in deeper water than what its predecessors could sustain.

As XperiaBlog notes, the new device could arrive on shelves with an IP65/68 certification, the same as the recently revealed Xperia M2 Aqua.

However, while the already official smartphone can be immersed in up to 1.5 meters of water, the upcoming device could go beyond that, said tweet reveals.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Sony Mobile is expected to announce its next flagship smartphone, none other than the Xperia Z3, at IFA 2014, which should be accompanied by a smaller sibling, the Xperia Z3 Compact.

Previous reports on the device have already suggested that this new phone will pack about the same hardware specs as the Xperia Z2, but it seems that Sony will make it a bit tougher when compared to the predecessor.

Sony’s launch event will take place in Berlin on September 3, which means that there are only two days left until all on this device becomes official, so stay tuned for more on the matter.
