Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile is gaining some more ground on the smartphone market, and its latest quarterly results reflect exactly that.

Between April and June this year, the company managed to sell no less than 9.6 million Xperia devices, marking an increase of around 30 percent when compared to the same period a year ago.

This is the highest smartphone sales number that the company has registered so far, most probably greatly helped by new devices such as Xperia Z and Xperia ZL, as XperiaBlog notes.

Not only did the latest Xperia models out there manage to impress users a lot, but they are expected to continue doing so in the months ahead, when another handset from the company will join forces on shelves, namely the Xperia Z Ultra, although it is aimed at a niche market.
