Last week, Sony Mobile started to push out a new software update for the owners of Xperia S, Xperia SL, and Xperia acro S smartphones out there, namely firmware version 6.2.B.1.96, and the open source files for the update are now available for download.

Sony has published the file on its developers website, and all those interested in downloading it should head over to this page for that.

For those out of the loop, we should note that firmware 6.2.B.1.96 was released with a variety of enhancements packed inside, meant to provide users with a better experience on their smartphones.

The update resolved some issues with the camera application on these devices, enhanced some applications and the connection stability for 2G network data, and also improved the battery usage times.

Following the update, users are also able to launch Google Now through long-pressing the home button.
