There has been much talk on the fact that Sony Xperia Z1 Compact might not come with a tempered glass back cover, like its Xperia Z1 sibling.

The smartphone is only available for purchase in a handful of countries, which makes it a bit more difficult to confirm if it does have both front and back sides covered in tempered glass, as initially thought.

However, XperiaBlog reports that the Japanese company has just confirmed that the back cover of the Xperia Z1 Compact is made of pure plastic.

The new information has been included in the smartphone's white papers as well: “The front side of the phone is made of durable tempered glass, and the back side is made of high-rigid plastic sheet.”

Keep in mind that Sony had to revise the Xperia Z1 Compact white papers, which originally stated that “both the front and back are made of durable tempered glass.”
