If you happen to own an Xperia Z1 or Xperia Z Ultra smartphone which was purchased through Bell, Rogers or TELUS’ official retail channels, then you will be pleased to know that a new software update is available for your device.

According to Sony Canada, Android 4.4.4 KitKat is now available for download for Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra at Bell, Rogers and TELUS.

The update should arrive automatically OTA (over the air) in stages, so it might not be available to all owners right away. However, we recommend Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra users in Canada to manually check for the update by going to Settings / About phone / Software update / Check Now.

Android 4.4.4 KitKat brings lots of tweaks and bug fixes to Google’s operating system, so we strongly recommend upgrading to this version as soon as the update becomes available for download.

Those of you who already captured the update on one or both smartphones may want to share their impressions with us in the comments section.

Did you notice any major new features after upgrading to Android 4.4.4 KitKat or this is really just about bug fixes? Stay tuned for more details on the matter.
