We kind of expected that Sony would start to announce new smartphones in early 2015, but we don’t know exactly which devices will be unveiled at CES and MWC trade fairs yet.

However, we do know that Xperia Z4, the company’s next high-end device will be the only flagship smartphone launched by Sony in 2015. Multiple sources have recently confirmed the information, though we’re still waiting for Sony’s word on the matter.

Anyway, it looks like Sony has confirmed its first press event of 2015, which is scheduled for January 5. The conference will be part of Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and will take place in Las Vegas, United States.

Apart from the timings and the location of the press event, Sony does not share any other details, so we can only speculate on what the Japanese company could unveil early next year.

If the handset maker decides to go live with the Xperia Z4, then we expect a 5.5-inch smartphone with a Quad HD display and an impressive 20-megapixel rear-facing camera.

According to the latest hearsay, the Xperia Z4 is expected to feature Qi wireless charging support, as well as 4GB of RAM and LTE Cat.6 for blazing fast data speeds.

Sony may also unveil two more smartphones in early 2015, the Xperia Z4 Compact and Xperia Z4 Ultra, but timings for the official announcement is unknown for the moment.
