Sharp has just announced the upcoming availability of AQUOS PHONE IS14SH in Japan via KDDI carrier. The handset is unlikely to be launched outside the country anytime soon.

Sharp AQUOS PHONE IS14SH is an Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone that features a slider form factor. In fact the AQUOS PHONE IS14SH strongly resembles a standard feature-phone, but Sharp managed to stuff Google’s mobile platform and turn it into an appealing smartphone.

The handset comes with a decent 3.7-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen display that boasts 900 x 540 pixels resolution. Apart from the large touchscreen the phone packs a standard slide-out keypad.

There’s also an enhanced 8-megapixel camera on the back with LED flash and HD (720p) video recording capabilities. The phone is delivered with 1seg digital TV sensor, e-wallet function (NFC) and infrared communication.
