The new service does not include the iPhone until next year
It appears that Canadian carrier SaskTel will start offering a new service to its customers that wish to unlock their phones.MobileSyrup reports that SaskTel will soon offer to unlock customers’ phones for a $50/€40 fee. This service is already available at other Canadian carriers including TELUS, Rogers and Bell, and soon it will go live at SaskTel as well.
Any SaskTel device will be eligible for unlocking for the said fee, except for the iPhone which will be unlockable beginning Q1 2013.
Obviously, customers who want to have their devices unlocked are required to have their contracts fulfilled, otherwise they will have to pay an additional fee.
So far, these are all the details leaked on SaskTel’s upcoming service, but we expect the carrier to come forward with more info within the next few days, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
