South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung has seen a boost in sales in China over the past months, with more than 15 million units moved in the second quarter of the year, a recent report from Strategy Analytics claims.

The company has managed to retain the first position on the local market for six consecutive quarters, and it appears that it is actually strengthening its foothold in the country.

Apparently, Samsung enjoyed 19.4 percent market share in China in the timeframe, gaining 0.9 percentage points when compared to the first quarter of the year.

Local smartphone makers Lenovo, Coolpad and ZTE trailed the vendor with market shares ranging from 9.7 percent to 12.3 percent in the same period, yonhapnews.co.kr reports.

Overall, smartphone shipments in the country raised to 78.8 million smartphones in the three-month period ending in June 2013 (representing 34 percent of global shipments).
