South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung unveiled a next-generation eight-core mobile processor at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week, promising impressive performance and battery life improvements over current CPUs.

Although it announced that the chip would include four ARM Cortex A7 cores and four ARM Cortex A15 ones, the company kept mum on the graphics used inside it, though it was believed to be an ARM Mali-T604 GPU.

According to a recent article on AnandTech, however, the company might have actually included a PowerVR SGX 544MP3 GPU inside the new chipset, clocking it at 533MHz.

They also suggest that the Exynos 5 Octa will be able to offer performance capabilities between Apple’s A5X and A6X SoCs.

However, there’s no official confirmation available on this for the time being, and we’ll have to wait for a formal unveiling to learn more on the matter.
