Back in February, we told you that following the moderate success of the Samsung Z1, the first smartphone ever to arrive with Tizen OS on board, the Korean tech giant was rumored to be already working on a successor for the device.

Well, according to the folks over at Tizen Experts, the rumors are quite well founded. Apparently, the Z2 is well under development, and we already have the purported specifications of the device to share with you.

According to word on the street, the Z2 will have a TFT-LCD display with 540 x 960 pixel resolution and a 32-bit quad-core processor under the hood running things alongside 1GB of RAM.

Sources familiar with the matter claim that the phone might ship out with Tizen 3.0 user interface, which supposedly bears resemblances to the Tizen UI found on the Samsung SUHD TV.

The phone will be maintained alive by a 2,000 mAh battery, but that’s about it when it comes to details related to specs. We’re not given a release date, but we could guess the Z2 might end up making a debut in the second half of 2015.

Compared to the original Tizen phone, the Z2 can be considered a small but important upgrade. The Z1 ships out with a 4-inch display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution and takes advantage of a dual-core CPU, accompanied with 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.
