Galaxy S4, the latest flagship Android-based smartphone from South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung, is said to have registered sales of only 5 million units in August.

A recent report from Counterpoint Research suggests that the phone’s performance is getting worse, backing recent reports that Samsung is not happy with Galaxy S4 sales.

Back in June, the device sold over 7 million units, but August proved a very slow month for it, it seems.

As UnwiredView notes, the device could fare very well during the holiday season, courtesy of various promotions that Samsung and its partners might launch for it.

Samsung is also said to be gaining ground in the mid and low levels of the market, with cheap, yet powerful devices such as Galaxy S3, Galaxy S3 mini, and Galaxy S4 mini.
