Today, Samsung announced that it has managed to sell over 20 million Galaxy S III units since making the smartphone officially available back in May.

The company reached the milestone in only 100 days after launching the device, doubling the sales figures from the 10 million sold units it has announced at the end of July.

Samsung also unveiled sales figures for various areas around the world, announcing 6 million Galaxy S III units sold in Europe to date, 4.5 million in Asia and 4 million in North America, along with 2.5 million in Korea.

Galaxy S III proved a highly appealing device even before hitting general availability, with millions of units sold during the pre-order period.

At the moment, Galaxy S III is the fastest selling smartphone in Samsung’s Android lineup, set to take down Galaxy S and Galaxy S II soon.
