With just one week left until the official release of Galaxy S 4, Samsung decided it was time to release the kernel source code of its flagship smartphone.

As AndroidPolice points out, developers who wish to start tweaking Samsung Galaxy S 4’s software will be able to do so by downloading the first source code for the superphone.

For the time being, Samsung only released the kernel source code for the unlocked version of Galaxy S 4 and for Virgin Mobile Canada’s variant.

Both Qualcomm and Exynos-based unlocked Galaxy S 4 devices had their kernels released, even though the latter will be available only in several countries.

Unfortunately, this does not help the tech savvy in the United States, as each carrier will have its own version of Galaxy S 4.

Still, we’re pretty sure Samsung will offer kernels for all Galaxy S 4 models, so make sure you check the handset maker’s repository site.
