These will be the first countries to get the payment service

Samsung Pay service was officially unveiled back in February at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 trade fair. Unfortunately, the South Korean company did not confirm when exactly the payment service would go live and where it would arrive first.

Since the new Samsung Pay doesn't require merchants to change any of the POS (point of sale) devices they already have, the launch of the payment service is very important.

The good news is Samsung Electronics Managing Director Park Jon-Young confirmed that Samsung Pay should make its debut in the second half of 2015, a new report claims.

The first countries to get the service will be North America and South Korea. Unfortunately, an exact release date hasn't been announced yet, but we suspect Samsung Pay might arrive in these two countries as early as September.

Moreover, Park Jon-Young was quoted saying that “the consecutive release schedule to the rest of the other countries […] in the second half of the year is still under discussion.”

For those who don't know yet, Samsung Pay takes advantage of NFC (Near Field Communication) and MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) technology from LoopPay in order to provide users with the option to pay with their smartphones.
