The device might arrive on shelves with an ornamented back plate

South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics might bring to the market a vertically flexed smartphone in the not too distant future, as it has been granted a patent for such a device.

Apparently, the upcoming device will be quite different when compared to Galaxy Round, the flexible handset that Samsung brought to the market this year.

Samsung is also expected to launch the new smartphone with a heavily customized back cover, though it’s yet uncertain whether this will be only decorative, as PhoneArena notes.

The fact that the South Korean vendor did get the patent on this device does not necessarily mean that it will launch it, so we’ll have to wait for an official announcement to learn more on the company’s plans on the matter.

In the meantime, however, you can have a look at some drawings with the device, available courtesy of the US Patent & Trademark Office.
