Last week, Samsung announced the upcoming availability of its GamePad device, which turns most high-end Android smartphones manufactured by the South Korean company into real portable gaming consoles.

Unfortunately, Samsung did not unveil the price tag of the gamepad nor when exactly the device would be available on the market. Well, it looks like Indian customers will be among the first to be able to grab it from Samsung’s store.

According to AndroidOS, Samsung India has confirmed that the GamePad will be available for purchase in the country sometime in late January. Samsung GamePad has been priced at Rs 4,999, which is about $80 or €60.

Keep in mind that Samsung GamePad is only compatible with devices powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and up, and which have displays from 4-inches to 6.3-inches.

It can be attached to devices other than Samsung, but offers the best gaming experience on Samsung smartphones that run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and later.
