Samsung Galaxy Extreme S5690, also known as Galaxy Xcover, has been delayed in the UK until January 2012. Initially slated for a December release, the smartphone will be released on January 9.

 

According to UK-based retailer Clove, the first stock is due to arrive on Monday, January 9. The smartphone will be available for purchase for £227 (355 USD or 275 EUR) outright.

 

The rugged phone is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread and packs an 800 MHz processor. On the inside, the smartphone features 150 MB of internal memory, 512 MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

 

In addition, it sports a decent 3.65-inch capacitive touchscreen (320 x 480 pixels resolution) with Corning Gorilla Glass. The phone is IP67 certified, which makes it both dust and water proof (up to 1m for 30 mins).
