Officially unveiled back in June 2014, Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 made it to market one month later. The slate was released with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system right out of the box, but Samsung promised that a Lollipop upgrade would be available at some point.

Well, today is the time for Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 owners to start upgrading their tablets to Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system.

There's a catch though. The update is now available at AT&T since the international version of the tablet has already received Lollipop a few weeks ago.

Verizon also delivered the update early this month, so it looks like AT&T is among the last to offer this important update.

According to the official changelog, the update should bump the tablet's software to version Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. It also brings an updated “Quick Settings,” additional animations, improved notifications and Device Protection feature.

AT&T confirmed that the update is available for download beginning today, June 16, and that it's pushed OTA (over the air) in stages.

In order to manually check for the update, head over to Settings / General / About device / Software update / Check for Update. If it's not yet available, you should try again later.
