Samsung will probably replicate last year’s scenario

When Samsung released the Galaxy S5 last year, it also announced the Galaxy S5 Active, a rugged variation of the flagship, which ended up being sold exclusively by AT&T.

Well, it appears Samsung will follow the same pattern this year, as an unannounced phone going by model number SM-G890A was spotted by MySamsungPhones in a User Agent Profile.

The device has high chances of turning out to be the successor of the SM-G870A, which is the Galaxy S5 Active.

The handset is shown to enjoy QHD resolution (1440 x 2560) just like the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, but apart from that, we’re not given any other details.

The news might make some Samsung fans happy. Unlike the Galaxy S5, Samsung has not made the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge water-resistant, something for which the Korean tech giant already received a fair share of criticism (that and the absence of the microSD card).

It seems the Galaxy S6 Active will solve that problem by bringing water and dust-proof capabilities into the equation.

According to the source, we should expect the carrier to make the official announcement about the Galaxy S6 Active sometime in May, a month after the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge go up for sale.
